As the Washington Huskies look to put some finishing touches on Jedd Fisch's 2027 recruiting class, they appear to be in a good spot with several of their top uncommitted targets.
In his most recent round of projections (subscription required), Rivals' Brandon Huffman named the Huskies as the top team to watch for a pair of trench prospects: four-star offensive tackle Rashaun Lavata'i and three-star edge rusher Josh Christensen.
After a late rise, Lavata'i has become one of the most-coveted offensive line prospects in the West, ranked as the nation's No. 293 overall recruit by the 247Sports Composite, and has taken official visits to Washington State and Utah. Following a mid-week visit to Washington, the in-state product of Curtis High School in Tacoma will round out his slate with a trip to see the Oregon State Beavers before presumably coming to a decision.
Washington officially entered the race for Lavata'i in early March, and offensive line coach Michael Switzer has made the 6-foot-6, 265-pound prospect a top priority. While he doesn't necessarily have the same physical readiness as John Mills and Kodi Greene in the 2025 and 2026 classes, Lavata'i has a promising frame and impressive athleticism, which have helped in his rise.
The 6-foot-6, 250-pound Christensen has experienced a similar rise. The product of Lake Oswego High School in Oregon, who is ranked as the No. 628 overall prospect and No. 53 edge rusher by the 247Sports Composite, has already taken official visits to Illinois, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Washington, and will head to California on June 18 before the dead period sets in.
After the Huskies earned a commitment from four-star Chaz Gray, which brings them up to four pledges along the defensive line, position coach Jason Kaufusi's unit may be running short on space, but if the high-ceiling pass rusher does choose UW, he would be a promising depth piece in the 2027 class.
