The Washington Huskies have added another high-end wide receiver to the 2027 class, with four-star Dontay Tyson choosing Jedd Fisch's coaching staff over the Texas A&M Aggies.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound product of Peoria High School in Arizona, who is ranked as the No. 39 wide receiver and No. 6 player in the state by 247Sports, had narrowed his list of 20 offers down to two, and didn't wait long after his official visit to Seattle to pull the trigger.
Now, he joins one of the nation's best classes of wide receivers already committed to position coach Kevin Cummings: four-stars Braylon Pope, Tre Moore, and Zerek Sidney. Tyson also brings a complementary play style to the table that should help him excel in the Z position or move all over the formation in Fisch's offense.
Although he was limited to just seven games during his junior campaign, he was still able to post 38 catches for 447 yards and 7 touchdowns while showing off a promising skill set that could get him on the field early at the college level.
"He really excels on go routes and wide receiver screens and has home run hitting ability," former 247Sports analyst Greg Biggins wrote in an evaluation of Tyson. "He’s strong in the air with excellent body control and routinely wins 50-50 jump balls. He uses his body well to shield smaller defensive backs and is tough to bring down in the open field. He has strong hands as well and catches the ball through contact."
With his pledge, the Huskies now have 17 commits in the 2027 class and are sitting with the nation's No. 14 class according to 247Sports.
