WICHITA — The Class 6A State Championship for baseball will pit two heavyweight programs against each other.

No. 5 Washburn Rural (21-8) will take on No. 2 Lawrence Free State (26-4) for the crown. Washburn Rural’s last state championship came in 1952. The Firebirds are trying to win its second consecutive state title.
