Was the mid-season Roger McCreary trade worth it for the Rams?

The Los Angeles Rams didn't make any major trades during the 2025 season, except for sending a 2026 fifth-round pick to the Tennessee Titans for cornerback Roger McCreary and a 2026 sixth-round pick.

The move made sense at the time, given the Rams' issues at the position, but McCreary wasn't able to produce. He played in just six games for L.A., missed four due to injury and finished with four tackles in 38 defensive snaps. McCreary is also an impending free agent this offseason.

As such, Bleacher Report's Alex Kay regraded the move for the Rams, moving the deal from an "A" to a "B."

While L.A. drew praise for adding more pieces to a secondary that had Super Bowl aspirations, the deal didn't move the needle all that much.

... McCreary didn't live up to the hype, but the low-risk move still provided L.A. with a capable body who helped keep the team in contention. The Rams might not give up a fifth-rounder for that type of production again, but a later Day 3 pick would have made sense.

This trade wasn't the worst deal the Rams could make at the time, given what little the team had to send back for his services. The Rams could still re-sign McCreary, too, if they liked what they saw from him and want to see a full offseason of work in this defense.

But the results of the move could affect how the Rams look at mid-season trades moving forward.
