At this point, it’s not about whether the Milwaukee Bucks will follow through on a blockbuster offseason trade featuring Giannis Antetokounmpo, but rather who will partner with Milwaukee to complete the biggest deal of the summer.

The Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers are expected to be in the hunt for a two-time MVP, along with several other franchises. Unfortunately for the two notable Western Conference organizations, a recent trade update regarding Antetokounmpo is less than ideal.

“The league's dominant player movement topic last week,” The Stein Line’s Marc Stein reported Monday. “Giannis. For sure. My old pal Bill Simmons stole some of my Sunday, er, Monday Best thunder on one of his recent podcasts when he said he thinks Antetokounmpo has legitimate interest in going to the (Boston) Celtics.”

“I’ve heard something similar from a few different teams since the Chicago draft combine: Miami (Heat) and Boston are increasingly perceived to be the potential trade destinations that currently — underline currently — most intrigue Milwaukee's Antetokounmpo.”

Essentially, Golden State and Los Angeles don’t appear to be atop Antetokounmpo’s wishlist ahead of the multi-team summer race for the 10-time All-Star.

That doesn’t mean fans can forget about Antetokounmpo joining either franchise in the next few months; it just signals they’ll have to work overtime to surpass the Heat and Celtics in the highly anticipated Antetokounmpo sweepstakes.

Hopefully, for the Warriors and Lakers’ sake, the next major report on Antetokounmpo's preferred trade destinations is far more positive.
