In the opening game of their second-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Golden State Warriors landed the opening punch, taking a 30-20 lead early in the second quarter. However, things took a turn when Steph Curry exited the game and entered the locker room. Curry was quickly ruled out for the remainder of Game 1 with a left hamstring strain.

Despite Curry being out of the lineup, the Warriors pushed forward against the Timberwolves, stretching their lead to as many as 23 points late in the third quarter.

Draymond Green caught fire early, drilling a barrage of 3-pointers on the way to an 18-point performance on 6-of-13 shooting from the field with four made triples. Green added eight rebounds, six assists and two steals in 35 minutes.

While the Warriors surged to a double-figure lead, the Timberwolves struggled to find the bottom of the net. The Timberwolves started the game 0-for-15 from beyond the arc. Naz Reid hit the Timberwolves' first 3-pointer of the game with 8:32 remaining in the third quarter.

Anthony Edwards struggled to get going against the Warriors, scoring only one point on 0-for-8 shooting from the field. However, in the third quarter, Edwards got on the board with nine points. Edwards continued to heat up in the fourth quarter, sparking a late run for the Timberwolves. Edwards tallied 13 of his 23 points in the fourth frame.

Yet, each time Edwards and the Timberwolves fought back into the game, the Warriors had an answer. After starting cold himself, Buddy Hield came to the rescue, scoring 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting with five made 3-pointers in the second half. In the fourth quarter, Hield drilled two clutch 3-pointers to put away the Timberwolves.

Jimmy Butler was all over the floor for the Warriors, scoring 20 points on 7-of-20 shooting from the field with 11 rebounds, eight assists and two steals in 41 minutes.

With a 1-0 series lead, the Warriors will get Wednesday off before meeting the Timberwolves for Game 2 on Thursday in Minnesota.
