Warriors get good news on potential Anthony Davis trade after reports suggest Wizards won’t move him originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Reports continue to indicate that the Golden State Warriors are very interested in trading for Anthony Davis from the Washington Wizards. Davis, who has been one of the better players in the NBA over the past few seasons, is an elite player when on the court.
That's never been his problem, though his injury history certainly has to be factored in here. It's unfair to bring up Davis' name without calling him an elite player, but that injury problem is something the Warriors and other teams around the NBA have to worry about.
Reports have also indicated that the Wizards aren't interested in trading him. However, Bleacher Report recently named him as a potential trade candidate, which would be more than perfect news for the Warriors.
“Davis' list of possible landing spots isn't long, but those in the market will really want him. For one, they'd have to be big fans in order to commit the kind of funds he'll seek out on his next deal. More importantly, though, he is just a tremendous talent. Availability concerns aren't going away, but he is a two-way needle-mover when he plays.
“The last time he was fully healthy, which was only 2023-24, he made All-NBA second team and All-Defensive first team,” Zach Buckley of BR wrote.
The problem the Warriors will have over the next few months will be centered around how much they can realistically give up in a trade.
Outside of moving on from Jimmy Butler and his contract, the Warriors don't have a slew of assets. They probably have enough to get Davis, but it's not enough to suggest that they'd be the only team with a good enough trade package.
