DETROIT – Golden State Warriors center Kristaps Porzingis was accompanied by trainer Drew Yoder into the tunnel midway through the second quarter Friday of a matchup with the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena.
Porzingis is questionable to return with lower back soreness, the team said.
He was fronting Pistons big man Paul Reed in the post in transition, absorbing the brunt of his weight with his lower back amid an errant pass. Porzingis reached for his lower back and walked gingerly to the bench at the 4:54 mark in the second quarter.
Acquired from the Atlanta Hawks last month before the NBA's trade deadline, Porzingis was playing his seventh game for the Warriors – missing six straight with an undisclosed illness. The 7-foot-2 sharpshooting center had five points, three rebounds and two blocks against Detroit.
This is a breaking story. Please check back for updates.
