Perhaps you're not a runner but don't mind some outdoor air on, say, April 11 or 12, when the Journal Sentinel Milwaukee Marathon events are under way.
The marathon and half marathon get started at 7 a.m. Saturday, April 11, with the 5K running the following day. Along the way, runners will encounter Discovery World, Lincoln Memorial Drive, the Oak Leaf Trail, the Third Ward, Walker's Point and Bay View, on their way to the finish at Humboldt Park.
Interested in helping out? All volunteers are required to register through the official registration process on the EnMotive volunteer registration page, and the sign up page shows all available volunteer opportunities. Volunteers will need to be available for the duration of the listed time frame.
Roles include assigning bibs and distributing goodie bags, corraling runners at the start line, welcoming runners to the finish, directing along the course and cheering on the participants.
Groups of 15 or more volunteers can sign up together, an opportunity for schools, clubs, sports teams and more. Ventures Endurance can provide either a donation or verification of community service hours in return. Groups will only be eligible for these benefits by fulfilling the committed volunteer hours and requirements, and groups will need to indicate the specific number of volunteers planning to help, ensuring the marathon has the right number of volunteers overall.
All questions can be directed to [email protected].
