People in the combat sports community like to criticize Jake Paul for boxing comically-undersized opponents (like this WBA lightweight). It happens to be a winning formula (proof here), which may have inspired UFC Hall of Famer Wanderlei Silva to book his Spaten Fight Night 2 main event against former WBO super featherweight champion Acelino Freitas.

“The Axe Murderer” tipped the scale at 206.7 against 162.7 for “Popo.”

Freitas replaced the injured (or not) Vitor Belfort.

Silva, 49, is required to weigh in a second time on Sat. morning and must be under 216 pounds, according to MMA Fighting. While the former PRIDE FC killer maintains a considerable weight advantage, he remains at a serious disadvantage in terms of skill (and perhaps durability).

Freitas, 50, is a former two-weight boxing champion who retired at 41-2 with 34 knockouts.

“Wanderlei is a guy I respect a lot outside the ring, but inside the ring, I have no respect for anyone,” Freitas said. “If it were in MMA, I wouldn’t last at all, that’s for sure. But just because it’s boxing, he is the one who will not last. After the fight, his name will be changed from ‘Mad Dog’ to ‘Dead Dog.’”
