When will the Braves get back on track?
The Atlanta Braves have been one of the best stories in baseball this season.
After missing the postseason entirely in 2025, they came out firing under first-year manager Walt Weiss and spent the first two months of 2026 near the top of the standings.
But the last two weeks have told a very different story.
Entering Wednesday, the Braves had lost 10 of their last 13 games and were on a four-game losing streak that included getting swept by the San Diego Padres.
The skid has dropped Atlanta from the best record in baseball to 48-31, though they still sit in first place in the NL East by four games over the Philadelphia Phillies.
It's a big change from a few weeks ago, when the Braves were sitting at 45-21 and looking like the most complete team in the National League.
The pitching has gone cold, the bats have gone quiet, and the losses have stacked up fast.
Despite the slide, Weiss didn't mince words about the struggles, saying he sees this as nothing more than a bump in the road.
"The teams we're playing are catching us at a good time for them," Weiss said. "It's all about when you play teams. It's really not necessarily who you're playing, it's always about when you play teams in this league."
He acknowledged that things haven't been clicking on either side of the ball but was firm that the downturn is temporary.
"We're down right now. We're struggling a little bit on both sides, with pitching and scoring runs," Weiss added. "It's not going to last."
What gives Weiss the most confidence is that this is the same group that dominated early on.
The talent that powered their red-hot start is still there.
"We have the personnel," Weiss said. "It's the same personnel that was really good the first couple months or month and a half. They're going to come around, but right now, we're having a hard time."
There are reasons to believe they can.
Atlanta's lineup is loaded with proven hitters, and the pitching staff showed early on that it can be one of the best in the league when everything is clicking.
Every team goes through rough patches during a 162-game season, and the Braves have more than enough talent to pull out of this one.
With a weekend series in San Francisco up next against a Giants team sitting at 33-46, the Braves have a real chance to get back on track.
If Weiss is right that this skid is about timing and not talent, Atlanta should find its footing again soon.
Given everything this group has shown in the first half of 2026, betting against them would be a mistake.

this Braves team as it’s currently constructed is very, very bad. Thank god for their historic start. They rank as one of the five-worst offenses over the last five weeks. Their starting pitching has completely imploded and they are hiding secret injuries to bullpen arms

Weiss Isn't Hitting the Panic Button
Despite the slide, Weiss didn't mince words about the struggles, saying he sees this as nothing more than a bump in the road.

“Before this skid began on June 9, the Braves were on pace for 110 wins and they owned a nine-game lead in the National League East. They are now on pace for 98 wins and they sit 4 1/2 games in front of the second-place Phillies.”

The Roster Hasn't Changed

Nearly halfway through the season, how do you think Walt Weiss has done in his first season managing the Braves? pic.twitter.com/nzAaFsNMO3
