Wales captain Beth Bingham scored twice as her side rallied back to beat South Korea in Hyerabad, India.

In a game of few clear cut chances, South Korea finally opened the scoring in the first minute of the fourth quarter as Yeongeun Park converted a penalty corner.

Wales responded brightly as Bingham equalised from the rebound of a penalty corner just two minutes later.

The Wales captain had missed a penalty stroke against India but made no mistake this time as she slotted home to give her side the lead with seven minutes remaining.

Wales held firm to see out their first win of qualifying and will face the winners of Austria and Uruguay on Saturday (09:30 GMT) in the 5th place play-off.

Wales are unable to qualify for August's World Cup having finished bottom of their pool after narrow defeats to Scotland and Uruguay before suffering a 4-1 defeat by hosts India on Sarah Jones' 200th cap.

Kevin Johnson's side are 24th in the world and will be encouraged by this victory against the 16th side in the rankings.

Wales midfielder Izzie Howell said: "Super proud of our performance today.

"We battled through the heat and managed to find our quality, coming from behind to beat a higher ranked team.

"Today we stuck together and showed what we are made of.

"Looking forward to bringing that same energy tomorrow."
