The West Texas high school sports season is over, and the Standard-Times will now ask fans and the community for their input on who they believe should be the San Angelo Standard-Times Athlete of the Year, presented by City National Bank.
The West Texas, Concho Valley and San Angelo area had plenty of outstanding performances during the high school sports season, as local football, volleyball, cross country, swim and dive, basketball, track and field, tennis, golf, baseball and softball athletes competed across the regular season and postseason.

After the season concluded, there were 32 San Angelo Standard-Times Athlete of the Week winners throughout the West Texas high school sports season. Those winners will be split into three rounds of voting for Athlete of the Year. The first round of voting will have all 32 Athlete of the Week winners competing for a spot in the top 16 in the second round of voting. Then, the final round of voting will have the top eight competing for the Athlete of the Year title.
Below are the 32 San Angelo Standard-Times Athlete of the Week, presented by City National Bank, winners throughout the 2025-2026 Texas high school sports season in alphabetical order, along with the sport they won the award in.
The poll will start on Tuesday and end on Thursday at 11 a.m., and the top 16 will be announced shortly after.

Nominations for next week's award are due by 5 p.m. every Saturday and can be submitted through email at [email protected].
Students participating in all varsity sports are eligible for nomination. Please include an athlete's statistics/times from a single game/event in an email to the San Angelo Standard-Times.
Athletes who win Athlete of the Week cannot win the award twice for the same sport. An athlete can be nominated in a different sport, but can't win the award more than three times in a school year.
