Which Green Bay area high school team was the best in January? You tell us.
You can vote for the Piggly Wiggly Press-Gazette high school team of the month until 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8.
The Bay Area Ice Bears hockey team was the winner for December, receiving 27,059 votes. The Lena girls basketball team was runner-up with 6,737 votes.
Here are this month's nominees. Be sure to vote in the poll below.
The Pirates defeated Green Bay United 109-61 on Jan. 27 in a showdown between the last two undefeated squads in the Fox River Classic Conference.
It was part of a 4-0 month in league dual meets for Bay Port.
The Voyageurs went 9-1, including a notable 5-3 win over Green Bay Notre Dame on Jan. 25.
They outscored teams a combined 70-16 and allowed one or zero goals six times.
The Wolverines went 8-1 in January, including a 49-35 win at Lena that gave them early control of the Marinette & Oconto Conference.
They beat opponents by an average of 18.9 points.
It was another dominating month for the Storm.
Kewaunee went 9-0, ending January with a season-high 96 points against Northeastern Wisconsin Lutheran.
A 65-44 win over Algoma on Jan. 20 helped the Storm go up at least three games in the loss column for first place in the nine-team Packerland Conference.
The Thunder remained undefeated with another perfect month.
It went 9-0, including scoring 90 or more points three times and putting up a season-high 109 points in a win over Winneconne. It was the most points in a game by Seymour since scoring 115 against Green Bay West in February 2020.
