Virat Kohli takes the field once again as India face England in the second ODI at Sofia Gardens, Cardiff, on Thursday, looking to bounce back after a forgettable start to his return.
Kohli had missed India's series against Afghanistan due to a right hamstring injury picked up during the IPL final. He was in excellent form in that tournament, having struck six fifties in his final seven innings and finishing with 675 runs across 16 matches.
His return in the series opener drew plenty of anticipation once he walked out after Rohit Sharma's dismissal. Still, the moment fizzled out quickly, with Kohli managing just five runs before being trapped leg before by Jofra Archer.
Determined to fare better this time around, Kohli had trained under coach Sanjay Bangar in Mumbai ahead of the series, specifically to sharpen his game against pace bowlers like Archer.
His overall record in England remains solid, having amassed 1,353 runs across 34 matches at an average of 51.88, including 12 fifties, though only a single century in ODI cricket on English soil.
With Sachin Tendulkar's tally of 100 international centuries still in his sights, Kohli will be eager to add further landmarks to his career during this three-match series.
