A 20-year-old Villanova University freshman football player from New Jersey has been charged with sexually assaulting another student, authorities said.

D’hani J. Cobbs, of Sicklerville, is also charged with rape, aggravated assault and indecent assault, according to court records and Villanova University.

Cobbs was being held on $250,000 bail following his arrest on Friday. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 12. His attorney couldn’t immediately be reached Monday.

The assault took place in a university dorm on Dec. 7, the Villanovan reported. The female victim was a guest in the residence hall.

“Sexual violence of any kind is not tolerated on our campus and we are committed to both supporting the victim and fostering a safe environment for all of our students,” Villanova University said in an emailed statement. “We are deeply troubled any time we receive reports of such misconduct, as our priority is, and always has been, to ensure we have a safe community for our students, faculty, and staff.”

A 2025 graduate of Camden High School, Cobbs was a freshman receiver for the Villanova football team. His bio has been removed from the university’s athletic website.

Cobbs attended Camden Catholic High School as a freshman before transferring to Camden High School for his final three years.
