The Minnesota Vikings needed to get some help in stopping the run. They started fixing it when they drafted Caleb Banks in Round 1, and now they add a linebacker in Jake Golday. The Cincinnati defender is a fun player, almost a throwback type in a sense, as he is expected to now step in and play alongside Blake Cashman, who also plays a similar style.
On Wednesday, he signed his rookie contract with the team. The Vikings announced the move on social media, and the financial terms were not disclosed.
Golday played two years with the Cincinnati Bearcats and racked up an impressive 163 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, and 5 sacks. He was a dominant presence in the middle of their defense and a reason for their success on that side of the ball in recent years.
There were other draft picks from the unit, but in 2026, Golday was the highest-drafted Bearcat defender.
