After being an observer for OTAs, Minnesota Vikings offensive tackle Brian O'Neill is practicing during the team's mandatory minicamp that started on Tuesday.
O'Neill is working towards a new contract, or at least he hopes, as he heads into the final year of his current one. He signed a five-year, $92 million deal in September of 2021, so there is still time for him to hit that proverbial deadline.
The tough talks may revolve around him being set to turn 31 years old in September. That is older for a tackle, but O'Neill has been playing well, and we have seen in recent years that offensive tackles have a bit more tread on the tire. That belief is what the former Pittsburgh Panther is pitching essentially as he looks for his new deal.
Until that time, O'Neill being present helps the team as they continue to evaluate quarterbacks, as they can enjoy having one of the more reliable offensive linemen in the NFL.
