The Minnesota Vikings celebrated the first round of the NFL Draft at U.S. Bank Stadium on Thursday night, but now the conversation shifts away from their pick, Donovan Jackson.
Former Vikings running back Adrian Peterson made an appearance at the event but was cited for DWI early Friday morning. The Minnesota Star Tribune first reported the news of Peterson's booking on Friday, after more details emerged. Hennepin County Jail records show Peterson was booked into custody at 5:16 a.m. Friday. What we do know is that the Minnesota State Patrol arrested him and is facing a fourth-degree DWI charge.
Minnesota-based Bring Me The News shares that a fourth-degree DWI is usually used for first-time offenders and those who posted a blood-alcohol concentration of less than 0.16.
This sadly marks the second drinking and driving-related arrest for a current or former Viking since the tragic passing of Khyree Jackson. The Vikings' 2024 draft pick was killed when his car was hit by a drunk driver during the 4th of July weekend last year, and despite that, both Jordan Addison and Adrien Paterson, both players close to this team, have not seemed to learn from such a devastating lesson.
