Vikings' J.J. McCarthy comments on the team signing Kyler Murray

J.J. McCarthy was drafted 10th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, with the organization believing he would be the future franchise quarterback, even with Sam Darnold in town. We got a small sample size of what McCarthy leading the Vikings looked like this season, and it was not pretty. Minnesota would bring in Kyler Murray on a one-year deal to compete with him in camp, and he recently spoke on the move.

"The organization made a decision that they feel like is gonna improve the depth and quality of the room. They feel like they made that decision. All I'm thinking about is continuing the upward trajectory that I set for myself last season, that last quarter of the season, and continuing to be the best version of me every single day."

This is a very adult response from McCarthy here. He very well could have taken the low road and said how he truly felt, because this is not it, but instead, he took the high road. He took a team-first approach and kept the Minnesota Vikings at the front of his mind. You have to wonder, though, if this response is in part to keeping his face value high as a team player?
