WASHINGTON, DC - JUNE 15: U.S. President Donald Trump, first lady Melania Trump, UFC CEO Dana White and other guests gather inside the Octagon at UFC Freedom 250 on the South Lawn of the White House on June 15, 2026 in Washington, DC. U.S. president Donald Trump was not happy with the size of the arena the UFC initially planned to build on the White House lawn.
A new FOX Nation documentary on the UFC Freedom 250 event called ‘Fight House’ details the behind-the-scenes process of putting together the mixed martial arts (MMA) card at the White House, and one of the first clips shared had Trump sounding frustrated as event producer Craig Borsari shared the expected capacity for the event.
“Do 7,000 seats here,” Trump declared as he stood on the South Lawn. “You could do it. They’re gonna build it. There’s nothing under here. You agree 7,000 would be perfect? We could have an arena of 8,000 people.”
When Borsari said they were thinking 2,500 people, Trump didn’t mince words.
“That’s terrible,” he said. “So you’re not talking about six or seven thousand?”
Borsari suggested they might be able to fit more people in if they built the arena up, which is what they ended up doing.
“My concept was smack right at the White House door, build it as big as you can,” Trump said. “We’re a little confined due to the trees and beautiful plantings and everything else, it’s not easy.”
In the end, the arena was built up higher and would hold about 4,300 people. Not quite 7,000 people, but better than 2,500.
The first of two ‘Fight House’ documentary episodes is available now to watch on FOX Nation.
