In a victory on Senior night, Notre Dame fans got a glimpse of what its future could look like.

A strong second half led by the underclassmen for the Irish got its fourth conference win of the season. First half story was all about NC State as they made 7 of 12 3 pointers and shot over 60% from the field. Despite shooting over 50% from the field, the Irish could never close the gap in the first half and found themselves down 44-38. Then the young stars Cole Certa and Jalen Haralson took over in the second half.

Carson Towt had a chance to tie the game with just over a minute left, but the 33% free throw shooter missed both free throws, however a strong defensive effort led to an Irish rebound and Haralson’s two made free throws tied the game up with 20 seconds left. NC State’s Darrion Williams missed a wide open three to send it to overtime.

Overtime was the Cole Certa show as he started the extra session making two three pointers, the first giving Notre Dame it’s first lead of the game and the latter from well beyond NBA range. The sophomore guard had twelve of the Notre Dame 15 points in overtime and NC State went cold shooting which ultimately led the Fighting Irish to be able to pull away with the 96-90 victory.

Haralson, in his first game back since February 10th, was aggressive in the second half realizing that NC State simply had no answers when he committed to driving to the rim. After scoring just two points in the first half, had 23 in the second half and overtime finishing with 25 for the game. The highest rated recruit in Notre Dame history was a beacon of positivity for a basketball team that has had a disastrous season thus far.

The Irish are now 4-12 in conference play and 13-16 for the season. They will play Stanford on Wednesday evening and then close out the regular season with a matchup at Boston College on Saturday.
