In the first quarter of Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs, officials missed a clear flagrant foul by Victor Wembanyama on Jalen Brunson.
It occurred in the first quarter while Brunson and Wembanyama were jockeying for position at the top of the key.
Wembanyama clearly shoves Brunson down by his head and neck area, yet officials didn’t see it.
Take a look for yourself:
Just ridiculous.
That should have been a flagrant foul on Wembanyama and two free throws plus possession for the Knicks.
Instead, Wembanyama got away with it.
This is a continuation of the awful officiating we saw in Game 2.
Things were clearly slanted in the Spurs’ favor in that contest. The NBA did not say anything about the horrific performances from referees, though, as you’d expect.
The league did give officials a perfect grade for the final two minutes, even though the refs missed a clear kick ball on Luke Kornet.
The NBA did, however, rescind a technical foul on Mitchell Robinson, although a bogus technical foul called on Karl-Anthony Towns was not.
One thing is very clear early on in Game 3: it looks like officials will favor the Spurs once again.
