The San Antonio Spurs received a big boost ahead of Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals, as the team’s final injury report released Saturday night confirmed that no players will be unavailable. Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder were dealt another setback after guard Ajay Mitchell was ruled out for Game 4 because of a right calf strain.
The Thunder are now missing its second and third primary ball handlers, shot creators, and playmakers, along with two of its top four scorers. Even though the Thunder still lead the best-of-seven series 2-1, sports analyst Skip Bayless believes the advantage now shifts toward Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs.
“Now the Thunder will also be without Ajay tomorrow night, a 20-a-game scorer in place of JDub. Spurs should win Game 4 easily,” Bayless tweeted.
Mitchell started in the Thunder's 123-108 win over the Spurs in Game 3 on Friday night at Frost Bank Center while filling in for Jalen Williams at forward. He recorded two points and five rebounds before leaving during the third quarter and not returning, and the Thunder still managed to secure the road win.
Mitchell has now started seven of the Thunder's 11 playoff games. Meanwhile, Williams remains listed as questionable because of a sore left hamstring, the same injury that kept him sidelined in Game 3.
For the Spurs, both De'Aaron Fox and Dylan Harper are expected to suit up in Game 4. Fox played a key role in helping the Spurs jump out to a 15-0 start in Game 3 and finished with 15 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and one steal. Harper initially suffered his injury during the third quarter of Game 2 but still managed to log 17 minutes in Game 3.
