Khyiris Tonga is not returning to the New England Patriots in free agency.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo (via MassLive’s Mark Daniels), the Kansas City Chiefs agreed to terms with Tonga on a three-year, $21 million deal on Monday.

Tonga started in eight of the 14 games that he played for the Patriots in 2025. The 29-year-old defensive lineman recorded two tackles for loss, two quarterback hits and two batted passes for New England last season. Tonga also registered 14 total pressures on the year.

The Chiefs’ defense ranked No. 9 in the NFL in QB hits in 2025 with 103, while also recording 75 tackles for loss. The Chiefs did, however, record the fifth-fewest sacks in the NFL last season with 35. Tonga adds to Kansas City’s defensive line as the Chiefs look to return to the playoffs next season after finishing 6-11 in 2025.

The Patriots will move on without Tonga after one season spent with the team. The Utah native signed a one-year, $2.1 million deal with the Patriots in free agency prior to the start of last season.
