The Kansas City Chiefs got a massive boost in free agency by reuniting with veteran safety Mike Edwards, who was a key member fo the team's Super Bowl LVIII roster.
In a press conference after his signing with Kansas City earlier this week, Edwards praised Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, and explained why he returned to Western Missouri as a free agent.
“Spags is just a real creative guy, he’s a mastermind behind how all of this works," Edwards said. "He kind of just like mixes everything up so the offense doesn’t really know what we’re doing and can have guys all over the place and doing different things and being interchangeable. With his defense, I think I can fit in really well just because I feel like I can play all over the field.
"Spags is one of those guys that likes to use his players to their strengths and likes to use them all over the place. I feel like when I was playing the first time, I kind of got into that rhythm as I got better throughout the season, and I figured out how Spags really wanted to play me and use me all over. I feel like he’s just a great coach and he’s going to have everybody in the right spot where they need to be.”
Given his experience and ball-hawking prowess, Edwards' addition to Kansas City's roster is expected to give the Chiefs a massive boost next season as the team looks to earn its fourth consecutive Super Bowl berth.
