Valor Prep has hired Joe Bellingeri as the school's boys basketball coach.
Bellingeri takes over for Jeremy Pope, who resigned after six seasons at Valor Prep on March 14. The Wildcats were 10-16 this past season, playing in Division I, Class 3A, struggling down the stretch and winning only four of their last 17 games. Pope was the program's first coach, taking the helm when the school opened in 2019.
Pope "really helped us get the program going and build it from scratch," Cameron Hill, Valor's managing director of athletics, said in a text message to The Tennessean. "We are forever thankful for the time he put into our school and students."
Bellingeri has more than a decade of coaching experience and has been Valor's director of finance for the past seven years. Valor Prep will introduce Bellingeri as its coach during a press conference at 4 p.m. April 28 at the school.
He served three years as the coach of the Brigade Basketball Club’s Class of 2026 AAU team compiling a 91–31 record.

"Joe is the kind of leader who builds programs that last because he builds people first," Hill said. "He understands that success in high school athletics is about far more than wins and losses. It's about developing young men of character, grit, and purpose. I couldn’t be more excited to see Joe step into this role."
Bellingeri also worked as an assistant at Franklin Road Academy under former Panthers coach John Pierce. Pierce led FRA for 16 seasons until resigning in 2022. Bellingeri helped FRA reach the TSSAA Division II-A state championship game in 2017.
"Joe’s commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes is what makes him such a perfect fit for Valor," Hill said. "He’s a coach, a father, a mentor, and he leads with humility, intensity, and heart."
