Former Texas A&M Aggie guard Andersson Garcia is joining the Utah Jazz for the Las Vegas Summer League, giving the organization another extended look following a brief evaluation last season. Garcia spent the past week with the Golden State Warriors’ Blue Squad during the California Classic before shifting to Utah’s Summer League roster, which comes as a move that aligns with the Jazz’s continued interest in his development. Utah signed Garcia to a 10‑day contract last year, and his return is a sign that the front office sees value in further assessing his fit within the system.
Garcia appeared in five games for the Jazz during the 2025–26 season, averaging 5.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 33.8 minutes per game. His production came with modest efficiency as he shot at a 31% clip from the field and a 77.8% clip from the line, but his rebounding immediately stood out. Garcia averaged 3.4 offensive boards and 5.0 defensive boards per game, finishing with a tally of 42 rebounds across his short stint in the cradle of the Wasatch Mountains. He also added 1.6 steals and 0.8 blocks per game, showing activity on the defensive end and the ability to cover multiple positions.
The Jazz have emphasized positional versatility and rebounding across their developmental pipeline, and Garcia fits that profile. At 6’7”, he has shown he can defend wings and smaller forwards while providing some sort of playmaking ability as well. His 2.8 assists per game and 2.0 assist‑to‑turnover ratio during his Jazz stint are examples of a player comfortable making those types of decisions. Garcia’s scoring remains an area that needs to be developed further, but his ability to impact possessions without high usage is one reason the Jazz are giving him another look.
Utah’s Summer League roster is built around recent draft picks and G League contributors, and Garcia’s addition gives the group an experienced option. His rebounding and defensive activity provide immediate utility in a setting where teams often struggle with physicality since they are so young. For Garcia, Las Vegas offers a chance to compete for a training camp invitation and potentially secure a role with the Salt Lake City Stars heading into the fall.
The Jazz open their Las Vegas schedule this weekend, and Garcia is expected to play rotation minutes as the organization continues to evaluate whether his rebounding, defensive versatility and passing can lead to a longer-term opportunity.
