USTFCCCA Central Region: Rutledge Named Coach of the Year, Sprecker Named Athlete of the Year

NEW ORLEANS, LA. — Fresh off a sweep of Indoor Track and Field National Championships across both the men’s and women’s squads, Pittsburg State Track and Field has received both coach and athlete of the year honors at the regional level.

Kyle Rutledge was named central region Coach of the Year for both men’s and women’s indoor track and field while Dylan Sprecker was named central region men’s indoor track and field Athlete of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Rutledge has helped lead the Gorillas to back-to-back sweeps of men’s and women’s team national titles at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships.

He also helped guide the Gorillas men’s team to a record-setting 225 points at the 2026 MIAA Indoor Championships while coaching 21 All-America performances.

Sprecker, on the other hand, capped off an All-American season in style with an individual national title in the men’s mile while also anchoring the title-winning distance medley relay at the NCAA DII Indoor Championships.
