Chris Richards is fit for the Crystal Palace bench as the London club meets Rayo Vallecano in the UEFA Conference League final on Wednesday, May 27.
Palace and United States fans were worried after the center back, who is seen as key for the United States' hopes at this summer's World Cup, suffered an ankle injury.
In the lead-up to the match, Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner said the 26-year-old had torn two ligaments in and was 50-50 to play the final.
But Richards returned to training Tuesday, and U.S. manager Mauricio Pochettino named him to the 26-man squad for the World Cup, though he noted Richards could still be replaced if he's not fully fit.
"We don't know, we'll see tomorrow if he plays, and then we'll decide. Because we have time — one day until the World Cup starts to make changes," Pochettino told reporters on Tuesday when asked if Richards would be good to go.
Both the manager and U.S. fans may be breathing easier after seeing that Richards is fit enough to be considered as a reserve for Glasner, who is hoping to guide the Eagles to a first-ever European trophy.
