SEATTLE — First country music, now baseball. Mauricio Pochettino is getting the full American experience at this World Cup.

The U.S. men's national team coach has been asked to throw out the first pitch at the Seattle Mariners game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday, July 3. The entire USMNT is being recognized before the game, which is being played across the street from where the Americans will face Belgium in the round of 16 on Monday, July 6.

On his coach's chances of success, Tyler Adams told Fox Sports with a laugh: "I don't want to say too much. But I don't think baseball is a popular sport in Argentina so we're going to see."

Pochettino didn't look bad as he took practice throws before the USMNT's training session on Friday, getting some good arc and distance. He also was getting some pointers from goalkeeper Matt Turner, who played in high school and threw out the first pitch at a Los Angeles Angels game last month.

Later in the day, several players played an impromptu baseball game. The USMNT is training at the University of Washington's soccer stadium, which is next to the Huskies' baseball stadium.

Pochettino was born and raised in Argentina and has spent much of his adult life in Europe. But he's fully embraced the United States since becoming the USMNT coach. He's called Chick-fil-A "amazing," and is now a big fan of country music. You'll hear Ella Langley playing in his office, and he belts out "Country Roads" as loud as anyone after games.

"He listens to more country music than anyone now," Gio Reyna told USA TODAY Sports. "I think it's really cool for him to dive into the American culture. It's cool of him to really fall in love with something that maybe he'd never heard at all before before coming to America."
