USF has hired the College of Charleston’s Chris Mack to replace Bryan Hodgson as its men’s basketball coach.
Mack, the 2016 national coach of the year, led teams to nine NCAA Tournament berths, including four Sweet 16 appearances and one Elite Eight.
He has a 323-153 (.679) career record over 15 seasons as a head coach at Xavier, Louisville and Charleston. He has led teams to 12 20-win seasons, including the past two at Charleston.
“Bulls basketball has incredible momentum, and we’ve found an outstanding coach and leader to elevate our program to the next level,” USF CEO of Athletics Rob Higgins said in a statement. “... He brings elite experience in roster building through the portal and transforming programs in a short time frame. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Chris and his family to Bulls Nation.”
