USC football hosted its 2026 Pro Day on Thursday. Trojans standout wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane was one of the players to participate in Pro Day. He also participated in the 2026 NFL Draft Combine at the end of February.
During an interview with reporters at USC’s Pro Day, Lane said he wants his selflessness on and off the field to be a trait that defines him as a player. Lane also said he believes he is the best teammate entering the 2026 NFL Draft.
“Very, very selfless. Probably the best teammate in the draft,” Lane said when asked how he would define himself, per a video recorded by Ava Brand of Los Angeles Sports Report. “Being able to have that behind my name is just everything. I prioritize being a good person rather than just a good football player. Being able to be someone that my guys around me can depend on is a huge thing.”
Lane Was A Star For USC in 2025
Lane stepped into a full-time starting role at wide receiver in 2025 after starting eight of 13 games for USC in 2024. He finished the season as a Third-Team All-Big Ten selection and ranked No. 11 in the Big Ten conference with 745 receiving yards.
He declared for the 2026 NFL Draft at the end of his third season with USC. NFL analyst Lance Zierlein gave Lane a 6.20 prospect grade, which suggests that he will develop into an average starter for an NFL team in the future.
Lane will soon learn which team he will start his NFL career when the 2026 NFL Draft takes place from April 23-25 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
