Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts are two of the most polarizing players in the NFL. They are also two of the top quarterbacks in the league. They are two of the most winningest quarterbacks in the NFL, but they are both coming off down seasons. Lamar and Jalen are each welcoming a new weapon from USC who can make a big impact as an NFL rookie.
Jalen Hurts shows up when the lights are bright, and he wins at a level that exceeds most quarterbacks. His numbers are not to the level of the top-echelon quarterbacks in the NFL, but he remains a respected quarterback. The addition of Makai Lemon should help him have his best season this year. Hurts is losing a top weapon in A.J. Brown, but Lemon slots in as a better fit with his playing style.
Lemon has all the traits of a receiver that Hurts can trust and benefit a ton from having. Lemon may be just a rookie, but he is wise beyond his years, and he is a rookie who can make an impact day 1. I expect the Jalen Hurts to Makai Lemon connection to be lethal and a big reason for Hurts to have a big season in a prove-it year.
Lamar Jackson now has his perfect prototype big-body receiver in Ja'Kobi Lane. Lane is a freakish athlete who is the perfect mix of size and route running. His ability will blend perfectly into the Ravens' offense. Lamar is a multiple-time winning MVP, and he has had historic seasons before. Giving him a weapon on the outside, like Lane, could help him win his 3rd MVP.
This season, two former USC Trojan receivers will be the difference for two elite quarterbacks reaching new heights and help propel two winning teams back to the promised land.
