Oct. 16—Two USC Aiken student-athletes have been honored by the Peach Belt Conference with Player of the Week awards in their respective sports.

Felipe Mattos from the men's soccer team has been named PBC Goalkeeper of the Week, and Ian Williams from the golf team was selected as the PBC Golfer of the Week.

Mattos, the sophomore from Sao Paulo, Brazil, guided the Pacers to a 1-0-1 week. In the 1-1 tie at Flagler, Mattos stopped six shots.

In the 4-0 win at Middle Georgia State, he helped the defense post a shutout while playing all 90 minutes between the pipes. It marked his second shutout of the season.

Mattos has started 10 games this season and has a goals-against average of 1.90 while stopping 35 shots, and his solid play has helped the Pacers to a 3-3-2 record in PBC play heading into a road game Oct. 19 at Clayton State.

Mattos was Goalkeeper of the Week twice last season on his way to earning second-team All-PBC honors.

Williams, a junior from Cary, N.C., has had an immediate impact at USCA in his first season after transferring from William Peace University. Last week, he guided the Pacers to a second-place finish at the Currahee Collegiate Invitational.

At the event, Williams was the top PBC student-athlete. He placed fourth after shooting 8-under par 208.

Williams opened the event with a 71, followed by rounds of 68-69 to finish four shots behind the co-medalists.

Next up for Williams and the Pacers is this weekend's Furman Intercollegiate in Greenville.
