Would Oakland's Stefan Wisniewski be a significant upgrade at center? Haven't seen much Oakland football over the past couple years but he is rated as the #37 available free agent by Pro Football Talk and Lyle Sendlein's production has significantly declined the last couple years IMO.

» Lyle Sendlein: The center is scheduled to count $4.275 million against the cap and would save the Cardinals $3.15 million if cut. The 31-year-old started every game in 2014, but was mediocre at best -- Pro Football Focus ranked him 40th out of 41 centers. With the much cheaper and younger Ted Larsen able to play center, Sendlein could be on the way out. After the team cut Ted Ginn Jr. this week, Sendlein appears the next likely player to be given walking papers.

Would make sense to me. Larson played a lot last yr. He could move in there until they got a rookie ready or upgraded in FA.

I would love for us to sign Wisniewski but we probably will either make Sendlein take a pay cut or start Larson at center. Wisniewski would be an upgrade and he's in his prime. Watching his tape he looks stronger than Sendlein. I think he is a better run blocker as well.

I think the cards would go a different direction at center. Especially if they want to make improvements to the run game.

I like Hudson better than Wisniewski but to each his own.

I can't see us cutting Sendlein until after FA begins, and then only if we manage to sign a replacement. Can't go into next year stuck with Larson if we somehow miss on a FA target.

I know there was talk of Cooper being moved to Center, but he hasn't yet proven he can play any position.

I have NO idea why the Cardinals never draft a center. They somehow think if a guy is a guard we can move him there with no problems. There have been MANY good centers come through the draft and year after year they take a 4th best player at a position and ignore the center.
Shoot for the most part they've ignored the O line all together in the first 3 rounds of the draft....yea yea Cooper is one.

Lyle has stayed because he shows up week after week. He's been a solid player in that regard.

I have a problem with Ted Larson at guard, but at center where he mostly will help with double teams and block linebackers ? No problem with that.

Lyle Sendlein should get a good hand shake, a thank you for your services, and walking papers, IMO.

He would, but why burn a 1st rnd pick on a C when we can get a darn good one in FA? Use the pick for another need like pass rusher.

I like Hudson better than Wisniewski but to each his own.

Reports saying Hudson is angling to get a contract on par with Alex Mack. So, hes smellin what the rock is cookin. No thank you, your a Center, not a LT.

Wis' scenario is basically identical to that of Veldheer. Former Raider who they probably should've kept, but wont. Young, hard worker. Under the radar, but jus as much a franchise player as any other Oline FA. And we can get him for cheaper than the 'Big names' (Hudson)

I think hes perfect. and maybe its just wishful thinking, but I do think Keim probably wants Wis too. It just feels too perfect a fit to ignore.

I wouldn't pay Hudson what Mack received either. I imagine whoever they sign, if anyone, will have their contract structured to have a lower first year cap hit than Sendlein's current 4+ mill figure.

Because draft picks are cheaper than a free agent would likely be. :)

The FA in question just a Center tho. Not a star pas rusher who breaks the bank.

And also the C is a very important position. I think its one in which you should invest in.

Centers usually aren't 1st round picks anyway

True, but Erving might be special. Much like only Adrian Peterson type RBs (rare) should go top 10 anymore, that's how Cs are. Erving has 'Best C in the NFL' potential given his tools. That's worth a 1st IMO.
