UNC basketball will play a preseason exhibition game against Southern Cal at the Greensboro Coliseum, the venue announced Monday, Aug. 10.
Dubbed “The Preseason Premiere” from First Horizon Coliseum, the Tar Heels and Trojans will tip off at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Aug. 14 via the Greensboro Complex website.
It’ll be the first of two exhibition matchups for UNC ahead of its debut season under coach Michael Malone. It won’t count toward the all-time series, but UNC has an 8-1 record against USC. The teams haven’t played since UNC’s 74-64 win in the 2007 NCAA Tournament, when graduate assistant coach Deon Thompson was playing for the Tar Heels under coach Roy Williams.
Following their game against the Trojans, the Heels will hit the road to face Indiana on Sunday, Oct. 18 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis to wrap up the preseason schedule.
During the regular season, UNC is scheduled to play rival N.C. State in Greensboro. The Heels and Wolfpack won’t play in Raleigh this season, but they’ll have a second meeting in Chapel Hill.
The 2027 ACC Tournament is also scheduled for Greensboro from March 12-16, 2027.
