As has been rumored for a few days, Seth Trimble has indeed committed to Louisville…but will this stick?
He still may not suit up for Pat Kelsey and the Cardinals, because of the recent court decision that allows members of the 2022 class a fifth year.
The NCAA has appealed the decision, and no one knows how that will work out.
On the other hand, what’s another late-summer injunction or TSO from a Louisville-friendly judge?
If he is eligible, the other concern for Louisville is chemistry. Trimble is a strong defender, and that will get him court time, but at whose expense?
Kelsey already had a backcourt of Adrian Wooley, Karter Knox, Jackson Shelstad, London Johnson, De’Shayne Montgomery, and Isaac Ellis. All of those guys just had their roles shift at least somewhat.
That’s going to be a challenge, and is exactly what Dan Hurley warned about recently: taking players in August risks seriously disrupting your chemistry.
All that said, if Trimble actually suits up for Louisville, the UNC reaction should be great to watch. The Cardinals visited Chapel Hill last season, so the ACC would have to set up a home-and-home for Trimble to visit the Dean Dome, but if he does, it’s going to be amazing to watch.
