Jose Montanha turned the tables on Louie Sutherland and scored an underdog win in his UFC Fight Night 284 debut.
Montanha (7-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) fended off an early takedown attempt from Sutherland (11-6 MMA, 1-3 UFC) in the heavyweight bout on Saturday at Meta APEX in Las Vegas, responded with a takedown of his own, took the tap and got the tap at the 1:50 mark of Round 1.

Montanha now officially joins the winner's circle in the heavyweight division and will look to make his mark. The Brazilian admitted he's had an emotional journey to this point, and to get the win, it means much to himself and the memory of his late father.
"I wanted to quit so many times," Montanha told Daniel Cormier through an interpreter in his post-fight interview. "I didn't take the mourning of my father too well. I'm very happy to be here and get this win."
