Kamaru Usman's return to competition in 2025 was a big awakening to many critics.
Back in June 2025, Usman made his return to the octagon in the main event of UFC on ESPN 69 after being almost two years away from competition. The inactivity, plus being on a three-fight losing streak, had many doubting Usman's ability to upset then-streaking welterweight contender Joaquin Buckley. Against the odds, Usman turned back the clock and defeated Buckley in a unanimous decision.

Usman (21-4 MMA, 16-3 UFC) returns to the cage this Saturday in the main event of UFC Fight Night 281 (Paramount+), which takes place at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City. He takes on former UFC middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis (23-3 MMA, 9-1 UFC) in a bout at 185 pounds.
