MIAMI – Not many fighters have a happy ending to their final fight. Cub Swanson is one of the exceptions.

At UFC 327 on Saturday, Swanson (31-14 MMA, 16-10 UFC) nailed the perfect swan song performance as he kicked off the main card at Kaseya Center with a one-sided battering of Nate Landwehr to ride off into the sunset with a victory. The TKO stoppage came at 4:06 of Round 1.

Swanson dropped Landwehr (18-8 MMA, 5-8 UFC) several times, and also hit him with additional shots that sent the Tennessean stumbling backward. A big overhand right followed by an uppercut were the final punches landed of Swanson's legendary career.

With tears in his eyes, Swanson immediately signaled for cutman Brad Tate to enter the cage and cut off his glove tape. Swanson then tossed his gloves center-cage before the decision was even read. The UFC had a video package prepared as his wife Kendra and three children watched from inside the cage.

Swanson, 42, had dabbled in suggesting retirement in bout's past. Prior to Saturday's win, he had knocked out Billy Quarantillo in late 2024. Swanson began fighting professionally in 2005 and entered the UFC in 2010 after a notable stint in WEC.

While Swanson never held UFC gold, he gained fans for his perennial contendership, all-out-war type of fighting, and his occasional placement as UFC headliner.
