EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — After getting off to a rough start to the year, the University of Evansville baseball team may have found their stride winning their third game in a row.
The Purple Aces got on a roll early scoring in the first four innings against Lindenwood. UE put four runs in fourth including a score on a throwing error by the Lions’ catcher. Then they tacked on two more late with a two-run home run by Reagan Reeder.
On defense the Aces gave up just two runs, a solo home run in the fifth inning to Tyler Ellis and an RBI single in the eighth to Will Geary. Evansville held Lindenwood to two runs on five hits to win the game 9-2. Jack Willhite did most of the damage on the mound for UE pitching five innings while recording two strike outs in the 18 batters he faced.
Drew McConnell had a big night at the plate going (3-4) with two runs and one RBI.
Evansville will be back in action Friday, April 10th at 6 p.m. in game one of their three game series against Southern Illinois. The game is set to stream on ESPN Plus.
