Going into the offseason, UCLA was in desperate need of a pitcher after losing senior ace Taylor Tinsley to the Athletes Unlimited Softball League.
Tinsley pitched 235 innings and 27 complete games across the entire season for UCLA. That is more than all three of UCLA’s other pitchers, who threw 145.4 innings and six complete games collectively. But with Tinsley out of NCAA eligibility, the Bruins needed to add another pitcher into the mix.

UCLA secured Arizona State pitcher Meika Lauppe through the transfer portal, according to D1 Softball’s Justin McLeod. The California native spent the first three seasons of her career with the Sun Devils and will join the Bruins with one season of NCAA eligibility remaining.

Across her three-season career, Lauppe has recorded 25 wins, a 3.64 ERA, and 160 strikeouts in 273 innings.
During the 2025-26 season, Lauppe put up a 14-4 record with a 3.59 ERA and 65 strikeouts through a career-high 41 appearances. She also tied her career-high with four complete games for the Sun Devils.
If UCLA does not lose any pitchers to the transfer portal, Lauppe will join Natalie Cable, Brynne Nally and Sydney Somerndike in the Bruins’ pitching staff next season.
