Three-star cornerback Trey Hopkins reportedly committed to UCLA during his official visit with the program over the weekend, according to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett. He is the 19th addition to UCLA’s Class of 2027 recruits.
Ranked as the No. 16 prospect in the state of Pennsylvania, Hopkins has received more than 20 offers from various teams. But he ultimately chose UCLA over other top programs like Michigan State, Texas A&M and Virginia Tech.
Hopkins received an offer from UCLA in February then visited the program on April 18. He said the Bruins’ coaching staff has made him feel like family.
“The main reasons I chose UCLA were the family feel, the coaching staff and the countless opportunities both on and off the field,” Hopkins said, per Rivals.

Hopkins said safeties coach Anthony DiMichele along with defensive backs coaches Eddie Whitley Jr. and Gabe Lynn have built strong relationships with him throughout the recruiting process.
“Since UCLA offered me, they’ve made me feel like family,” Hopkins told Rivals. “I’ve been able to visit since then and it really felt like home. I’ve also spent a lot of time with Coach DiMike, and my relationships with a lot of the coaches have continued to grow.”
“I like how real they are as people and how they’re more than just football coaches. I feel like I can go to them for literally anything. That means a lot. I really like the way they teach and develop their players too.”
Hopkins has one more season left with La Salle College in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania before he will join UCLA next season.
