UCLA Women Basketball's newest assistant coach Noelle Quinn eager to learn under 2025 Women's College Basketball Championship head coach Cori Close.
Quinn played 12 years in the WNBA before she turned to coaching, but she still believes she has plenty to learn from Close despite winning a WNBA Championship as a player and another as a coach. Meanwhile, Close put together a dominant, veteran roster that went all the way last year, but now has to rebuild the program with younger talent.
“I’m just honored to be on Cori’s staff, to be able to add value, but also to learn from a championship-level coach whose servant leadership is on full display every day,” said Quinn in the Bruins press release. “From how she coaches her team, to how she leads with her staff, how she pours into the community, she is one of the best leaders that I’ve seen and I’m just happy to be able to be in her hemisphere every day.”
The praise by Quinn means something, especially because Quinn was part of the beforementioned WNBA Championship caliber teams as a player and coach.
Could Quinn be the missing piece to Close's coaching staff to allow the Bruins a chance at a repeat? Maybe, but it seems like it's a win for both sides as Quinn trains Close's new-look Bruins and Close teaches Quinn a few tricks of her own.
