The second game of a scheduled home-and-home series between the University of Cincinnati Bearcats and University of Louisville Cardinals will not take place in 2026.
The Enquirer confirmed the news with a source close to the UC program and the game's promoter. It was a tentative "TBA" on both schedules. Challenges with that process and a date issue were reasons given for the game being pushed back.
"Scheduling is a lot like the portal," UC head coach Jerrod Calhoun said. "Things are getting pushed further and further back. Coaches, quite honestly, are waiting to see what their rosters look like. We've got to add a couple more (games). They'll start to trickle out over the next couple weeks."
The Bearcats held No. 6 Louisville without a field goal for over seven minutes to start the game last November and led 32-28 at halftime. But Ryan Conwell, who lost to UC in the Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout in 2024 with Xavier University, got redemption with a 24-point effort and a 74-64 Cardinals win.
UC's top player, Baba Miller, didn't play in the final 10-plus minutes with a hip injury.
UC's last win in the 101-game rivalry came in 2022 in the Maui Invitational as the Bearcats won 81-62. David DeJulius and Landers Nolley II combined for 47 points in UC's lone win on the island.
Calhoun will be taking his team to the Bahamas in August, where the competition will include at least one Division I team. There are also exhibitions and regular-season games yet to be announced against Power Four teams.
