As far as Tyler Adams is concerned, the U.S. Men’s National Team faithful can all breathe a sigh of relief when it comes to Christian Pulisic’s status for their second FIFA World Cup game against Australia.
Having won their opening game against Paraguay in style, beating the South American side 4-1 with both Pulisic and Adams playing pivotal roles, the only real concern regarding Mauricio Pochettino’s side was the decision to take the AC Milan attacker off at halftime.
After the game, Pulisic explained, via ESPN, “I just got a bit of a kick first half, so I'm really hoping that it's nothing. Taking a little bit of precaution today, but I'm hoping I'll be fine the next few days.

“Just the back of my leg, my calf area. But I've had similar things before and I'm staying positive. I don't think it's anything at all.”
His head coach also addressed Pulisic’s substitution when speaking with reporters, saying, “He got a kick in the calf and at the end of the first half he started to feel tight and we didn't want to take any risks. It was difficult for him to walk. But [we] hope that it's not a big issue and he can be ready for the next one.”
While neither Pulisic nor Pochettino has since provided any further insights on his recovery, Adams did when speaking with reporters on Monday, and it seems the 27-year-old will be good to go when they take on Australia in Seattle, Washington, on Friday.
“Christian will be ready, everyone. Let’s relax,” the AFC Bournemouth star said, via Athlon Sports.
“I think that he picked up a knock a few days before the game, and I think he got kicked in the same spot again during the game. And when you go in at halftime, things obviously get tight within the 15-20 minute break, but he’ll be fine.”

Pulisic was absent from the start of the team’s training on Monday, working individually in the gym before later taking to the field, as per Tom Bogert.
The USMNT impressed even without Pulisic in the lineup at SoFi Stadium, although their attacking dynamism did take a noticeable dip in his absence. Despite this, substitute Gio Reyna was still able to score a memorable fourth just before the whistle blew for full-time, marking the first time the USMNT has ever scored four in a World Cup game.
The star of the show up front, however, was striker Folarin Balogun, who found the back of the net on two occasions, including an excellent top corner strike just before the break.
Next up are the Socceroos at Lumen Field, who are also looking to continue their hot start to the tournament, having beaten Türkiye 2-0 on Saturday.
