The Washington Commanders played in prime time five times last season. The Commanders were coming off their best season in 33 years, going 12-5 and reaching the NFC Championship Game. Washington was also led by the reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Unfortunately, Washington failed to live up to expectations, falling to 5-12, as Daniels battled injuries throughout his second NFL season.
So, how many prime-time games will the Commanders have in 2026?
More than you think. Daniels is fully healthy and is also set to be featured on the Netflix series "Quarterback," which begins in July. Daniels is already one of the NFL's most marketable and exciting players. Check out the ratings for the Commanders with Daniels under center. The NFL pays attention to those things.
The full NFL schedule will be revealed on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. ET, but several games have already been leaked. We're following all the latest confirmed Washington games and rumors here.
The first game revealed for the Commanders was a Week 4 showdown in London against the Indianapolis Colts at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Later on Wednesday, Art Stapleton, who covers the New York Giants for The Record and NorthJersey.com. Stapleton says he's hearing the Giants will host the Commanders in a Week 10 matchup on Thursday Night Football.
Another NFC East matchup was revealed, this time via the @NerdingonNFL account on X. It's also in prime time.
The Eagles and Commanders in prime time would not be surprising. While the Giants and Eagles' games are not confirmed, these are reliable sources. That means with three Washington games revealed, two are in prime time, while the other (Colts) is a standalone game.
It seems fair to assume that one of the Commanders' meetings against the Cowboys will be in prime time or as a standalone game. Last year, Washington hosted Dallas on Christmas Day.
Another potential prime-time matchup could be the Commanders and Bengals. Does anyone remember the last time these two teams met? It was a thrilling victory for Washington, where Daniels dueled Joe Burrow for four quarters. It was on Monday Night Football.
The 2026 schedule will be official in a matter of hours, so, for now, everything is just speculation.
