McAlester was well-represented at the All-State games last week.
Two Buffaloes competed in two different sports and one coach also received recognition during the annual Oklahoma All-State Games, which showcase the top seniors and coaches from across the state.
Representing the Black and Gold one last time were Seth Gilliam and Creede Tribbey.
Gilliam represented McAlester in golf and Tribbey represented the Buffs’ Football program.
The week began with golf, which played at 8:30 a.m. Monday, July 27 at Kickingbird Golf Course, where Gilliam played for the East.
The golf round featured 12 East players against 12 West players and did match play by group. Gilliam and Tate Dunlap of Claremore paired against Harper Nance of Crossings Christian and Ben Stroman of Edmond Santa Fe, who played for the West.
Holes one through six were a scramble and holes seven through 12 were best score in their respective groups.
The match ended in a 24–24 tie between the West and East teams, which was noted as the first tie in the event’s history, combining cumulative match-play scores from both the boys and girls divisions.
For Tribbey, his final time representing the Buffs came at 7 p.m. July 30 when his team, the East, took on the West. The game took the field at Chad Richison Stadium at UCO where the East ultimately fell 32-16.
The Buffs’ representation at All-State wrapped up nicely when coach Adam Hass was named All-State Football Coach.
