The Denver Broncos remained active in the afternoon of the first day of legal tampering. After re-signing linebackers Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad, the Broncos reportedly will release linebacker Dre Greenlaw.

Greenlaw signed with the Broncos prior to the 2025 season from the San Francisco 49ers. Releasing Greenlaw will save Denver over $6 million in salary cap space this season.

Here is a small sampling of how fans and commentators reacted to the Greenlaw news on Twitter/X.

The #Broncos are releasing starting ILB Dre Greenlaw, per @RapSheet.

Greenlaw's time in Denver ends after only one season.

Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad figure to start at ILB in 2026.

Denver signed Dre Greenlaw to a 3-year deal worth up to $31.5 million one year ago. He ends up playing just one year and making $10.5 million of that. The 29-year-old will be a free agent https://t.co/rQ0gQjLWRX

And here's the downside to the Broncos' retention of both Justin Strnad and Alex Singleton.

Dre Greenlaw was due $7M in 2026.

The Broncos would have also had one of their 7th round 2026 compensatory picks upgraded to a 6th had they not signed him. https://t.co/NPu38yDjMX

Alright, @Broncos release Dre Greenlaw. Makes sense, injury prone and underperformed. I love this guy and hope he can bounce back somewhere next year. Never forget if he didn’t get injured in the SB the 49ers could have beat the chiefs.

I come back to an Alex Singleton re-sign and cutting Dre Greenlaw. What is happening right now???

Not one player signed outside the team… https://t.co/LlvGdx77zX

I had high hopes when the Broncos signed Dre Greenlaw last year, but he just wasn’t healthy enough to be the difference maker we thought he’d be.

An NFL team just cut Dre Greenlaw to extend Alex Singleton don’t ever let anyone tell you you can’t be a GM one day

Cutting Dre Greenlaw to re-sign Alex Singleton.

Don’t really don’t get it. https://t.co/cEXw9xiAUa

#Broncos had enough of injury concerns related to LB Dre Greenlaw. Missed spring drills with quad injury. Missed all of preseason with a different quad injury. Missed last two regular-season games with a hamstring injury. Also missed one due to NFL suspension. Played in 8 games.

Dre Greenlaw is now cut. Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad are your starting LBs.

I was a huge fan of the Dre Greenlaw signing last year but this one just never worked out.

Couldn’t get healthy and didn’t seem love Sean Payton. pic.twitter.com/TB61wdMATk
